National Consultant – Planning & Major Infrastructure - Swindon

Summary

Are you passionate about preservation and conservation of our nations’ special places, and want to be part of that journey? We care for nature, beauty, and history for everyone, for ever. So that we continue to influence planning and environmental reform we’re looking for a National Consultant to join us on a full time, 2-year fixed term contract basis. 
The rapid pace of social, economic and environmental change presents both threats and opportunities and we’re working hard to manage that. This role will respond to, and influence planning and environmental transformation across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Your contractual location will be Heelis, however there will be an opportunity to explore and agree remote working arrangements which strike the right balance for you and the Trust. The role will also involve travel to properties or regional hubs to meet with stakeholders and to carry out work.

What you'll be doing

As planning and environment reform continues  you’ll support with the Trust’s responses to government consultations, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as part of this.  
Monitoring the impacts and implications of planning and legislative reform on the Trust interests, you’ll be key in providing training and guidance on how to adjust systems, processes and programmes to reach the best outcomes as well as capturing best practice. 
You’ll be confident and passionate to represent the Trust’s interests both internally and externally in negotiations and advocacy. 
You’ll also need to be flexible to travel nationally and be able to work in an agile way to confidently manage multiple projects with dynamic timeframes.

• Ability to negotiate and influence effectively and make a convincing and persuasive case to both internal and external audiences.• Ability to multi-task and to successfully manage and effectively prioritise multiple projects to maximise impact.• Proven communication skills and ability to synthesise complex advice into successful project planning and clear organisational responses.• Able to identify when new systems, guidance and approaches are needed and will be confident in delivering these, working to get the best out of multi-disciplinary teams and specialists.• Environmental or other related Degree and relevant practical experience in planning or environmental regimes.
