We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Multiskilled Mechanical Operative to join our Facilities team.
The Role
Working as part of our skilled Facilities team, the Multiskilled Mechanical Operative will provide skilled support for the team in terms of minor mechanical/maintenance tasks on vehicles, plant and pumps, general steel fabrication, minor plumbing tasks, whilst assisting team members with general maintenance tasks and duties as required.
As a Multiskilled Mechanical Operative, you will:
- Provide skilled support and assistance within the Mechanical team on general maintenance tasks, daily checks, minor projects and general daily duties as required
- Maintain a due diligence in terms of your own personal Health & Safety and for those around you
- Maintain the standards of the team and strive to improve within your capability
- Work to achieve personal targets and make efficient use of time and material resources
- Be part of the team and contribute proactively within your capabilities
The Package
Hours of work are 40 per week, working predominantly 07:30 – 16:10, Monday to Friday. There may also a requirement to work weekends on occasion to support the operation of the zoo.
- 9 month, temporary fixed term contract
- Salary of £26,487.02 per annum (pro-rata)

Our Requirements
- Broad but basic knowledge of mechanical systems
- Basic plumbing/drainage knowledge
- Basic plant and machinery knowledge
- General steel fabrication
- Ability to solve problems and adhere to H&S guidelines
- Self-motivated, resourceful, flexible and a willingness to learn
- Capable of working as part of a team
- Be courteous and respectful within a busy, public facing organisation
- Good communication skills
