What you will be responsible for:
MFS is looking for an experienced Multi Asset research analyst to help expand MFS’s existing Multi Asset platform. While the platform currently has significant AUM, further growth will require strong collaboration between the fundamental equity, fixed income and quantitative investment teams. This particular role with be focused on asset allocation, with a significant emphasis on the fundamental equity perspective. This will involve working with MFS’s fundamental equity team to identify and harvest the team’s strongest multi asset investment ideas in addition to conducting independent research primarily focused on equity investing in multi asset portfolios.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work directly with MFS’s fundamental equity team to identify the team’s most important views on multi asset investing.
- Conduct fundamental research and contribute thought leadership on different aspects of cross asset investing, with a particular focus on how equities and equity factors fit into multi asset portfolios.
- Contribute to the further development of the multi-asset platform, particularly bringing fundamental top down equities expertise to bear, including, but not limited to; strategic and dynamic asset allocation techniques including the use of derivatives, the incorporation of macro into the allocation process, quantitative and qualitative risk management, and portfolio optimization.
- Collaborate significantly with other members of the multi asset investment group and with the relevant teams in the Equity, Quant and Fixed Income in all aspects of the above.
- Generate actionable medium to long term investment ideas for alpha creation and tail risk management in portfolios
- In conjunction with the MFS Strategist, collaborate with the Distribution team to enable content creation related to fundamental work undertaken
- Support multi asset Portfolio Managers with structure and execution of trades and monitoring
Required qualifications & Experience:
- Significant familiarity and understanding of the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the above, with a particular focus on long term fundamentals. Whilst not limited to the equity point of view, strong equity knowledge is required.
- Ability to think independently and question the status quo
- Strong desire to collaborate, scrutinize and be scrutinized
- 7+ years of experience in multi-asset investing or asset allocation
- Strong financial modeling skills, good understanding of statistics, familiarity with financial databases
- Familiarity with macro drivers and fundamentals
