Butler rose are exclusively partnered with a fast paced, friendly, and social Housing association based in North Manchester. The successful applicant will manage the Rents and Service Charge Team in providing an effective service to the budget holders of the Service Charge and Care and Support budgets of the Registered Provider(s). You will lead on the accounting and calculation of the rents, service and leasehold charges, liaising with tenants and customers to ensure their understanding of the charges being made. This role is key to effective financial reporting, forecasting, and monitoring and rent and service income recovery
They now have an Immediate requirement for a full time Finance Business Partner and as a result, you will need to be either immediately available or available at short notice. This is a brilliant opportunity to join a diverse, large and sociable finance. This is a hybrid position where you may be expected to come in the office once or twice a week with flexible start and finish times.
Your new role as a Finance Business Partner:
Your duties will include:
Leading and developing the team responsible for rents and service charges.
Setting the annual rents and service charges for tenants and leaseholders in line with legislation and regulation.
Prepare annual rent, service charge and care and support budgets including developing this skill within the service delivery teams.
Monitor budgets & produce information and reports for managers; supporting managers to identify variances and produce an accurate forecast.
Complete the relevant areas for inclusion within the monthly Management Accounts pack, providing detailed commentary where necessary.
Ensure all expenditure & income is recorded correctly in the accounts by scheme and in line with the approved budget, to enable production of accurate and timely accounts.
Ensure all expenditure for each type of service charge is verified and audited internally, to enable the production of accurate accounts to facilitate the apportionment of costs to customers.
Calculate the apportionment of all tenant and leasehold service charges ensuring that the methodology is sound, accurate and reasonable and fully supported by appropriate documentation.
Maximise income by ensuring that annual service charges are calculated and apportioned accurately for all properties.
Understand and reconcile any service costs not currently recovered and advise on the introduction of new service charges.
Liaise with the Development Team to ensure that service charge implications are fully considered for all new developments and are implemented in line with regulations.
Ensure that policies and procedures and any other changes in practice relating to rents and service charges and any other services comply with all relevant legislation.
Lead on and provide training on consultation requirements.
Benchmark and look at top performing RSLs in relation to service charges to ensure best practice.
Provide financial training and support for staff who are involved in the procurement of services that may impact upon service charge expenditure.
Provide accountancy support for relevant projects.
The Experience & Qualifications Required:
The successful Candidate shall be/have:
Effective communication skills
Able to encourage collaboration with others and be a valuable team player
High attention to detail
Finalist or Part Qualified ACCA / CIMA studier
Advanced Excel skills- Vlookups, pivot tables, SUMIF, IFS (Power BI would be an advantage)
Able to work to strict deadlines and manage self through peaks and troughs
Previous experience working in the housing sector would be an advantage
Adapts positively to change and adopts a flexible approach to the role
Previous experience in the production of service charge accounts (desirable)
Sound knowledge of budget setting process
Experience of the production of Management Accounts
Ability to explain financial issues in an accessible way to non-finance people
Process improvement resulting in efficiencies in day-to-day operations
Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
