Mine Fitter

At British Gypsum we are looking for an apprenticeship trained, Mechanical bias Mine Fitter to work in our Mining Production Engineering team. The Mine Fitter will work under the Mining Regulations 2014 with main duties will be to assist the Mine Production manager and Mine Engineers in the day-to-day discharge of his duties including that of daily personal supervision of personnel in a geographical area (District) defined on the Mine Plan as well as being able to undertake these duties and responsibilities in a safe and economic manner in compliance with mining legislation, company policy and Managers Rules
The Mine Fitter will be a part of a safety focus, highly skilled and technical minded team based out of Marblaegis Mine, East Leake, Leicestershire. The Mine Fitter will work closely with the Shift Electrician, 3 Plant Operatives and will be part of a engineering and maintenance team consisting of up to 9 engineers. The Mine Fitter will report to a Mechanical Shift Manager and a Mechanical Team Leader. What we’re looking for:
- Experience in continuous improvements in a manufacturing / production environment
- Strong exposure to perform PPM, reactive maintenance but most importantly strong plant reliability skills in a fast-paced production facility
- Mechanical time served apprenticeship as well as holding a HNC in mechanical engineering
- Vast experience within a manufacturing / production environment safely maintaining medium to heavy mining plant and vehicles such as Shuttle Cars, Large wheel loaders and Hydraulic Mining Shovels with basic skills in machining, welding, pneumatic and hydraulics (mechanical).
- Strong attention to detail, Problem solver, technical minded with an ability to work under pressure and manage multiple simultaneous priorities
- A positive attitude to self-development and a willingness to learn
What you will be doing:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Maintenance, overall plant, vehicle, and people safety.
- Working with diesel heavy mobile plant and material handling systems as well as working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Running mechanical task and supervision of any workman in your area to ensure that they are safe
- Responsible for keeping the Mining production facility running on 24/7, this is a key critical maintenance role working on a 2 nights and 2 days shift basis, with times where you will be only Mechanical Mine Fitter on night shifts
- Accurately communicate safety issues and concerns, shift performance and status of equipment to relieving shift/personnel.
- Manage task and schedules to the highest levels and ensure communicating professionally to Stakeholders across the facility. Ensure all statutory and maintenance inspections are completed on time & signed
