Hours: 37.5 hours Monday-Friday between hours of 8.15 – 16.30

Quality Control have an temporary opportunity for a Microbiology Technical Officer to join their team until end of October 2023. This role is to support Microbiology Analysts and Senior Microbiology Analysts in performance of microbiology and Environmental Monitoring investigations by conducting a range of appropriate tests in accordance with Quality System protocols.
Quality control North West is a NHS organisation that provides a comprehensive quality control service to the both public and private healthcare customers, including the NHS, and the pharmaceutical industry.
The range of services provided includes: environmental monitoring, quality control & batch release testing, research and development studies, medical gas testing, cytotoxic residue monitoring and formulation studies.
Quality Control North West is approved by the MHRA as a provider of quality control lab services and is accredited under the UKAS scheme to the ISO/EIC 17025:2017 standard.
Responsibilities for this role includes:
· To perform a range of technical and support work for in the section including site testing, processing of samples for TVC determination, Preservative Efficacy testing, LAL testing and enumeration/ identification of plates using established procedures.
· To perform quality control procedures in accordance with the Quality System.
· To submit test results as required for the purpose of internal and National Quality Control Schemes
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
· Degree in Microbiology or related discipline.
· Experience in an microbiology and pharmaceutical microbiology testing in a laboratory.
· Experience in gram staining, identification and enumeration of environmental organisms, TVC testing, PET testing.
· Ability to work independently.
· Able to drive (potential off site work).
· Flexible worker (able to occasionally cover out of hours work).
