About us
Liberty Home Support Service provides practical and emotional support to people who experience mental health problems; in their own homes and in the community, in the Leeds area.
We are a team of passionate and caring individuals providing support with a focus on developing, retaining and regaining skills and abilities, to contribute to a more meaningful and improved quality of life.
We provide support to individuals experiencing a broad range of mental health difficulties from a diverse range of backgrounds, with a focus on independence through ownership of their own goals and appreciation of their strengths.
As a company we are committed to providing a supportive working environment; we routinely work with our staff team to build a schedule that enables them to fulfil a rewarding job role while still giving full consideration to their own personal commitments and desired working patterns. Many of our current staff team work part time hours, to enable them to fulfil family and home commitments.
We are committed to staff development, in order to deliver a high quality service that provides a positive improvement to the quality of life of the individuals we support.
We do not operate on weekends or evenings; we are a Monday - Friday, 9:00-17:00 service.
Specific duties & responsibilities
Support clients to access and build confidence with social, leisure, educational & work related activities; such as:
- Trips to the Cinema, Bowling etc.
- Going out for meals
- Walking and supporting individuals to enjoy nature
- Attending Art & Craft clubs/activities
- Accessing Day Centres
Offer practical support with daily living tasks, such as:
- Shopping
- Organising the home
- Assistance with organising and attending both physical and mental health related appointments.
- Paying bills etc.
Job requirements:
Full driving license and use of a vehicle.
The desire to have a positive impact on the wellbeing of others, through your role as a support worker.
Qualifications or experience directly relating to mental health support work.
Commitment to training (cost met by the company) and developing your professional skill set where applicable.
The ability to build a good relationship and demonstrate high levels of empathy, whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
The ability to effectively address challenging behaviour and lack of engagement
Knowledge and understanding of the support needs and challenges facing vulnerable adults experiencing mental health problems.
Good communication, note writing skills and time management.
Demonstrate compassion and empathy; the ability to relate and empathise with our service users is key to our company ethos.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months
Part-time hours: 1 - 40 per week
Salary: £11.00-£15.00 per hour
