Job description
As the Illinois Farm Bureau Social Media Specialist you will work with internal staff across multiple departments to implement the IFB Social Media Strategy successfully. You will work closely with the Issue Management team to stay current with the internal and external messaging and talking points to deliver consistency for the membership organization. Additionally, you will work with our network of county Farm Bureau leaders and staff across the state to assist in delivering our message beyond our channels.
This position offers a hybrid work schedule and is based out of our corporate offices in Bloomington, IL.
How does the Illinois Farm Bureau Social Media Specialist make an impact?
- Communications staff may be assigned an area of focus, with opportunities for broader experience on various projects, including, but not limited to, social media, media relations, communication platforms and/or general communications.
- Regularly contributes ideas and content for various external IFB communication platforms.
- Serves as spokesperson for the organization for assigned media and contacts.
- Assists IFB leadership, staff and other spokespeople in creating messages for various internal and external communications.
- Actively monitors reputational threats and potential threats that could damage IFB's reputation and recommends strategies to manage them.
- Analyzes, recommends, develops and implements strategies for assigned media/platforms with a focus on IFB priorities and brand. Supports corporate project teams as assigned.
- Produces outcome measurement reports with an emphasis on engagement and strategic impact.
- Exercises professional leadership by keeping abreast of current trends, developments, technology and new opportunities within field of responsibility.
Do you have what we're looking for?
- Experience with a focus on strategic social media engagement.
- Strong track record of working as part of a team focused on policy issues and advocacy, agriculture knowledge preferred.
- Strong knowledge and experience in producing digital and multi-media content for social media platforms.
- Proven writing experience for print, broadcast or social media platforms.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
- Regular travel, including some overnights.
- Typically requires 2 years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education and training.
