ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works under the general direction of the Marketing Manager to develop, execute, and disseminate all marketing and communication plans for the entire City of Memphis. Correlates the divisions' media distribution list. Promotes all programs, services, policies and procedures. Develops promotional storylines, writes and designs the E-Newsletter for distribution through the email marketing program, and E Blasts to highlight programs and events. Creates and edits text for promotional material (i.e. flyers, posters, bookmarks, etc.), marketing jobs, and calendar of events. Meets with internal staff event planners and community partners to discuss marketing needs and goals. Photographs HCD and other City of Memphis programs and events to post on social media and for City newsletter. Maintains and updates HCD photo archives. Conducts customer interviews to gather pertinent data and feedback that will showcase the HCD impact on social media, and to contribute to the HCD monthly statistical dashboard and/or annual report. Updates social medial platforms with information on upcoming and previous events. Coordinates the HCD social media strategy and editorial calendar. Handles queries from the news media on HCD and City matters by obtaining correct, publishable information from various HCD administration and senior management officials. Cultivates the media, both print and broadcast (locally, regionally, and nationally) for all City Divisions. Manages the maintenance of accurate and complete files of all news coverage. Researches and fact checks official communications prior to release. Prepares video presentations, both educational and general interest for targeted and general audiences. Develops storylines and scripts and oversee production of City television shows.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing with management, staff, employees, volunteers, media, community leaders, city officials, and the general public. Requires the ability to operate a company vehicle. Requires the ability to use photo equipment, a computer, copier, telephone and other office equipment. Requires the ability to lift 20 pounds without assistance.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in an office environment. May travel to various meetings and events throughout the City. May be required to possibly work nights/weekends and/or working outdoors in all types of weather.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communication, Broadcast or closely related field and four (4) year's related experience; or any combination of experience or training which enables one to perform the essential job functions. Working experience using photo equipment, event planning, and social media platforms is preferred. Must have str g written and interpersonal communication skills.
The City Charter requires that City Employees must establish residence within Shelby County withing six (6) months from the date of employment. Proof of residence will be required at the time of hire.
