The Role
The scale of the work we do means that Tata is an immense arena for learning and development.
Engineering is at the heart of our industry and the efficiency and capability of our production facilities are the building blocks of a successful business. So our Mechanical Engineers occupy a unique position within projects. Multi-skilled, inventive, constantly learning, they manage our unique equipment throughout its lifecycle. From large scale procurement and customer focused projects to hands on maintenance, the variety of experiences here is unlike any other company.
You may find yourself working with cranes that unload ocean-going iron ore to intricate hydraulic systems in our rolling mills. Whatever your interest, there will be the scope to develop here.
You must have at least a 2:1 Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In an ideal world, you’ll already have some relevant work experience too, perhaps gained through an internship or through paid or voluntary work.
Driven, passionate and tenacious, your strong sense of personal accountability is bolstered by your eye for the bigger picture. Outstanding problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire trust and build engagement are also essential.
As part of a global organisation, it’s vital that you understand and engage with our culture.
The Graduate Programme
There are few organisations who can offer the scale, complexity and diversity of career opportunities that you will find at Tata Steel. Throughout the programme you will gain experience of a wealth of systems, operations, methods and tools.
You will be supported by experienced professionals with excellent on the job training. You will be in charge of your graduate development whilst having access to different training opportunities both to develop your soft skills and your technical skills.
You can expect to be challenged every day, but you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside professional experts who can help you achieve and exceed your own ambitions. Be part of our team and make the difference together.
Tata Steel offers a development programme, with a 70-20-10 model of learning and the opportunity to achieve your first appointment from the 12-month mark, dependent on your progress.
During that first 12 months, we will give you real projects to deliver, along with formal training to help you develop your programme skills, influence people and manage effectively. During this time, you will have opportunities to work collaboratively with various departments to discover the best solutions whilst ensuring solutions proposed align with business strategic goals.
