We are working with an Alternative Provision school in Manchester who believe in giving young people, ages 11-16, the tools and opportunities to create the lives they want for themselves. JEP Youth Engagement is determined to support young people to fulfil their potential. You will need to deliver engaging sessions to our young people, focus the sessions on improving their life chances and communicate with all stakeholders with a view to tracking and monitoring the progress of each individual you work with. You will share and report on sessions through feedback forms, weekly logs and reflections and termly reports.

Due to the expansion of the School they are now looking to recruit a full time maths Teacher, who will be delivering lessons across their leanring Hubs in Salford, Preston and Bolton.

The main purpose of the role:

As a Maths Teacher, you will deliver high quality teaching and learning to young people aged 11-16 with social and emotional difficulties, anxiety disorders and in some cases mental health needs. The focus is on increasing academic and vocational qualifications and knowledge, whilst achieving independent living skills that will equip young people for the next stage in their lives, be that further education, or other training.

Key duties:

· Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

· Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a team.

· Maintain and use short-, medium- and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.

· Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.

· Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

· Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.

· Assist in the development of the curriculum offer. To maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism in order to be able to plan for effective teaching and learning.

· Manage a delegated budget as required.

Successful candidate qualities:

  • Essential: PGCE, QTS/QTLS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Maths
  • Desirable: Experience of working in a school environment, ideally in Alternative Provision setting or specialist education.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
  • Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
  • Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
  • Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
  • Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £45,000.00-£50,000 per year DOE
