We have an exciting new opportunity at Walker Filtration for a Materials Manager!

Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain & Logistics. The Materials Manager is accountable for ensuring the successful scheduling of purchased components in line with production plans and customer expectations. This position is responsible for material planning, goods-in receiving and controlling inventory levels. Working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all customer due dates are met. Support activities and efforts required for optimum utilisation of materials and provide expertise in material strategies to support our full potential plans

- Supplier Packaging Standards
- PI & Aged Stock Management
- Goods-In Management
Key responsibilities-
- Participation in SIOP Plan (sales, inventory, and operation planning)
- Manage the material planning team and scheduling of tactical buying of purchased material
- Manages the daily expedite and past due date process, attends all levels of production accountability meetings with recovery plans to support customer requirements
- Perpetual Inventory Management: oversee team conducting cycle counts and corrections
- Manage Goods-In Department and processes
- Responsible for Inbound freight costs
- Responsible for inventory management; Implementing/Maintaining ‘Runner, Repeater, Stranger process with appropriate stocking strategies; Safety Stock Management / Kanban’s / Supplier Stock Holding / VMI & Consignment
- Participate in projects and continuous improvement activities

- Supplier On-time delivery reporting and actions plans

- Supervise, coach, and develop team
- Responsible for escalation as necessary

Attributes
Criteria
Relevant experience
Proven materials management experience in the areas of operations, production/material planning, purchasing, warehousing, and logistics- Strong analytical and Organisational skills
- ERP/MRP, warehouse management, and logistics systems experience
- Proven strategic planning skills
- Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems
- Knowledgeable of forecasting and budgeting techniques
Education and Training
A Level Educated is essential – including Math, English grade C or above- MCIPS qualified
- Competent IT skills in Microsoft Office
- Degree educated in relevant field
- Efacs ERP system
Skills, abilities, and specialist knowledge
Ability to motivate, lead and coach employees at all levels within the Material Planning function, along with the ability to forge robust and effective relationships with supporting functions
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Well organised and prides themselves in attention to detail
- Ability to be assertive to achieve goals
- Can work on own initiative
- Self-motivated and ability to work without close supervision
Any Additional Factors
Full UK driving license and willingness for occasional travel
