Safe2Speak Domestic Abuse Service is commissioned by St Helens Council to deliver support to victims of Domestic Abuse across the region. The current service includes a Risk Identification Officer, Independent Domestic Violence Advisers (IDVA) working with high-risk victims of abuse, Domestic Abuse Outreach Workers working with medium to standard victims of abuse, and 24/7 short term temporary refuge accommodation for victims fleeing domestic abuse.
This is a unique and exciting opportunity within Safe2Speak to work within St Helens Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH), working closely with Childrens Social Care and key partners, to provide victim/survivor oversight of children’s safeguarding referrals. The successful person will be co-located within St Helens MASH Team at Atlas House, Atlas House, 2 Corporation St, Saint Helens WA9 1LD.
This is an important role in which you will:
- Offer expert advice & guidance to the MASH around cases where domestic abuse is a factor, and where domestic abuse is not obvious and already identified, consider subtle indicators of coercive control so that domestic abuse is spotted at the earliest opportunity.
- Whilst working with other agencies, you will strive to keep victim/survivor’s safety at the centre of all coordinated responses.
- Provide expertise to support prevention and early intervention opportunities and build strong relationships between Safe2Speak and St Helens MASH.
- Raise the profile of Safe2Speak the local specialist domestic abuse service, local referral pathways and the importance of the completion of the Merseyside Risk Assessment Tool (MeRIT).
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Experience of working and engaging with people and families with complex needs and/or challenging behaviour suffering domestic abuse.
- Knowledge of domestic abuse legislation and best practice.
- Track record of support/safety planning and multi-agency working.
- Experience of crisis management, risk minimisation and of making decisions in difficult situations.
- Evidence of managing personal resilience.
- Ability to professionally challenge decision making.
- Knowledge and experience of Safeguarding Practices and Procedures.
- Track record of building a rapport with clients whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
