MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
The Darling Home for Kids was Ontario’s first paediatric hospice, and today, is the only provider of a continuum of services for families who are raising a child with complex medical needs. To support the growing rate of these special children who require extensive medical care and technology for daily living, our organization will undergo a comprehensive capital expansion this year to add 10,000 square feet to create new spaces and elevate our level of care. Located on 77 acres of the Niagara Escarpment, we exist to fulfill a critical gap between hospital and home through our Residential, Hospice and Respite services, providing families with the vital support they need to meet the demands of caring for a child with significant medical needs.
Coming off the heels of a highly successful capital campaign, our organization is in a phase of rapid growth, and we need a dedicated Marketing and Communications Officer to raise our profile in the Milton community and beyond. The successful candidate will lead all marketing and communications initiatives with a goal to drive brand awareness and increase donations, as our annual budget needs increase.
Our organization follows a hybrid work model. The chosen candidate will work from The Darling Home for Kids at 1+ days per week, dependent on business needs, and their home office the remainder of the time. This position is also required to attend after-hours events and media opportunities.
You Will:
- Create, maintain, and execute a comprehensive annual marketing and communications calendar;
- Develop and execute all marketing and communications initiatives designed to generate fundraising revenue, create understanding among stakeholders and drive brand awareness;
- Working with the Development Officer, Annual Giving, develop, write, and execute compelling campaigns designed to attract, retain and upgrade donors;
- Grow and develop email database using marketing tools to encourage community interaction and donor conversion;
- Manage The Darling Home for Kids’ social media channels, and create a thoughtful strategy to engage with and grow our online community;
- Oversee The Darling Home for Kids website, keeping content current and on-brand;
- Plan and execute donor communication campaigns, leveraging email marketing, direct response and donor-based marketing;
- Provide regular reporting on marketing analytics, including social media engagement, website traffic and campaigns;
- Create donor-facing content, including newsletters, brochures, annual reports, etc., liaising with a third party graphic designer;
- Working with the Events and Sponsorship Lead, create event materials designed to promote and increase attendance and sponsor support for Signature Events;
- Perform media outreach, act as media liaison, and write media releases and PR communications;
- Complete additional tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- University Degree or College Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field;
- 3-5 years of experience in a marketing or communications role, preferably in a non-profit setting;
- Proven grasp of best practices in marketing, with a specific focus in digital;
- Solid experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, and other digital platforms;
- Strong analytical skills, with experience in tracking and reporting metrics;
- Stellar writing skills with the ability to convey a compelling story across mediums and channels;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment;
- Highly organized with keen attention to detail;
- Unlimited access to a reliable vehicle and valid Driver’s License.
Conditions of Hire:
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector screening.
- Satisfactory pre-employment Medical Clearance, including proof of being fully vaccinated having received the recommended dosage(s) of a COVID-19 vaccine, as approved by Health Canada.
Total Compensation Package:
- Salary range of $60,000-$70,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications;
