Our team touches all aspects of airport life – from water to energy, rail to roads, baggage systems to runways. The sc ope and variety of what we do is vast, spanning mechanical, electrical, water, civil, rail and environmental disciplines. Together we are responsible for the performance of 500,000 assets worth £14bn. As a Manufacturing Technician at Heathrow, you will join an established team of skilled craftspeople, providing a diverse range of restoration and improvement works across our airport. You will be actively involved in everything from manufacturing components and bespoke fixtures, to repairing and restoring structures, equipment, and signage. This is a truly exciting role, offering unique and challenging opportunities to utilise your craft skills, within an environment where no two days are the same.


  • Enabling Heathrow’s passengers to experience the best airport service in the world, through repairing, replacing, and manufacturing a broad range of assets, fittings, and fixtures.
  • Working in a reactive environment, to reduce asset downtime quickly and efficiently.
  • Investigating faulty or poor-performing assets, identifying improvements, and using a range of craft skills to improve performance.
  • Keeping records up to date to create efficiency and meet Heathrow’s regulatory requirements.
  • Showcasing your passion for ‘doing the right thing’, by proactively spotting hazards, reducing risks, and creating a safer environment for all.
  • Carrying out all duties with consideration and a respect for best practice and continuous improvement.

  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in a recognised engineering discipline, or a fully indentured craft / technician apprenticeship.
  • Strong practical skills and experience using a broad range of hand tools.
  • Experience of fabrication, welding, machining, or metal work.
  • Effective problem-solving ability and an inquisitive approach to finding solutions.
  • Ability to prioritise in a complex and fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
