Job description
The Manufacturing Engineer creates and coordinates the implementation of new or improved manufacturing processes. Responsible for various engineering assignments ranging from feasibility studies to the introduction of designs and drawings to Manufacturing. Serves as a liaison to coordinate activities of Continuous Improvement, Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze existing operating methods and initiate and develop new methods to improve economy and quality through material and labor savings. Initiate, research and recommend automation and material handling solutions.
- Manage master plant layout drawings. Support plants regarding equipment moves, repairs and safety enhancements. Responsible for the maintenance, distribution and accuracy of all production and post-production engineering drawings.
- Leverage AutoCAD skills to support the plants in work around layouts, racking, equipment, material handling, forms, fixtures and gauges. Manage gauge drawings, updates, modifications, generation.
- Support implementation of capital projects through building the business case, supporting purchase (acquiring vendor quotes, writing purchase contracts, issuing purchase orders, managing down payments and tracking spending), managing install checklist and overseeing training and start up assistance.
- Determine from part drawings and related engineering data the operation necessary for the fabrication and assembly of product. Develop and write sequence of operations as well as time estimates for each operation specification.
- Manage asset transfers, logs, movement.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools. Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion. Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
- Champion the MasterBrand Way within the organization, utilizing the tools and processes of the MasterBrand Business System to position the company for growth and identify opportunities to reduce waste, complexity, and improve our work environment.
- Travel up to 10% to support other sites and projects
- Responsible for special projects as assigned.
- Coordinates prototype drawings for products or processes with necessary support personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience with project management working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- Knowledge/experience with AutoCAD preferred.
- Knowledge/experience with project management software preferred, including SmartSheet.
