Job description
This is a hybrid working role from either our London or Manchester offices.
- Rate Payment Management; processing and checking rate demands, meeting deadlines to prepare and send funding requests, data validation, Local Authority liaison.
- Client Management: the role will include a Client Manager role as Client liaison on their rates due, queries, portfolio changes, preparing and providing liability reports and forecasting, and attending update meetings.
- Empty Rates; collaborating with the wider Empty Rates team to identify and manage Empty Rate cases, including demand challenges, managing mitigations, seeking reliefs and exemptions from billing authorities.
- Revenue Contribution; Identifying and securing savings from challenges and reliefs secured.
- Maintaining spreadsheets; preparation of budgets and reports.
- Experience in business rates is ideal. Experience may have been gained at a Rating Agent or Local Authority (or Collection Agent on behalf of a Local Authority) , or a mixture of both. A candidate demonstrating similar adaptable skills will also be considered.
- Experience with finance and accounting is beneficial.
- IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation) Qualification is desirable.
- 6 GCSE's grade A*-C (or equivalent).
- Demonstrable track record of generating revenue is preferable.
- The role will use Riverlake and bespoke Altus systems, and Excel reports and data, therefore confidence on Excel is required.
- The role will require external communication with Clients and Local Authorities, therefore a professional confidence in communication is essential. Attendance at presentations and client update meetings (face-to-face and video calls) may be part of the role.
