Job description
Directorate: Communities and Place
Hours: 37 hours a week
Contract Type: Permanent
Location: The Council House, Derby
Derby City Council strives to deliver the best outcomes for its residents and their communities. Our vision:
That every person in Derby should be able to live in a place they call home, with the people and things that they love; being part of a community where they look out for one another, doing the things that matter to them.
If you share our vision and have the required knowledge, skills and experience, we are seeking applicants for three Locality Manager roles. This is an exciting new opportunity to lead a newly formed, multi-disciplinary team covering a number of the City’s neighbourhoods. You would be managing a team of Local Area Coordinators, Locality Officers and Public Protection Officers, all working to a shared aim of working alongside individuals and communities to promote wellbeing, independence and safety using a strengths-based approach to building community capacity.
We are looking for people with:
- A belief in a strengths-based approach to working with individuals, communities and partners and ability to lead a team in a way which translates this into day-to-day operations of the team
- The confidence and ability to create a supportive, aspirational environment where people of different backgrounds can come together to achieve a common purpose
- The desire to support the development of a continuous learning culture within an innovative team that recognises the complexity of the environment we operate in and supports the team to develop and refine its approach based on sound data and clear intelligence
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills to build and nurture positive relationships and partnerships with a wide range of people at a personal, family, organisational and community level.
For further information or an informal chat about this post, please contact:
Sarah Edmundson, Principal Locality Manager on 07812300759 or [email protected]
Neil Woodhead, Localities Service Manager on 07341739559 or [email protected]
As part of our safer recruitment checks the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
All employees will normally be appointed to the minimum of the grade for the job. For reasons connected with a particular need of the Council it may be appropriate, subject to approval, to appoint to a higher point in the pay grade.
Please be aware that where there are staff within the organisation who are 'at risk' of redundancy, requirements to redeploy to another suitable role will apply and take priority.
Before you complete your application form please read our guidance on filling in your application form.
Quick Tip! Remember to align your personal statement to the Essential Criteria in the Person Specification
The closing date for this vacancy is Sunday, 14th May 2023 at midnight. Any applications received after the closing date will not be accepted.
