About the Position:
Here at QAHE, we’re looking for a fabulous Library Assistant to join our amazing team, who’ll ensure our students and staff enjoy our library environment.
You’ll make it conducive to their learning and working; helping with enquiries and generally pointing out the best ways to do things. And, of course, getting hands-on to help. This role is to cover the Monday to Thursday late shifts plus the Saturday day shift.
Key Responsibilities:
The main aspects of this exciting role are:
- Opening and closing routines
- Dealing with enquiries in person, by phone and email
- Responding to incoming phone calls, letters, emails professionally and expediently
- Assisting with stock circulation, and shelving/tidying.
- Providing support to staff and students in using a VLE and other university systems

About You:
This role would be a great fit if you’ve a background in customer-service (so a definite people-person!) and if you’ve worked in a library before, then so much the better! But you must, must, must have a genuine passion for this role!
Educated to at least A-Level standard, you’ll have a reasonable grasp of IT, particularly Office 365 applications, and won’t be daunted by a very busy library! We’d love you to be able to tick the following boxes, too:
- Good IT skills (office applications and email)
- Ability to work independently but not afraid to ask for help if needed
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Well-organised and methodical, able to work accurately with speed
- Flexible and adaptable to change
- Patient
- Passionate about this role!
Although the role is Monday to Thursday 1.00pm to 9.00pm, and Saturday 9.00am to 5.00pm, if you have the flexibility to help out when your colleagues are on annual-leave or are under the weather or have been abducted by aliens, that would certainly be a bonus!
Apply today, we’d love to hear from you
