Job description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will have experience in legal research in relation to Residential Tenancy Law in the Province of British Columbia, Small Claims, and CRT processes, as well as document preparation, and court filings. They will also be responsible for providing administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling appointments, managing calendars, and preparing legal documents. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting legal documents, such as pleadings, motions, and briefs.
- Assisting attorneys in preparing for hearings, trials, and other court proceedings.
- Conducting legal research and summarizing findings.
- Organizing and maintaining files of legal documents.
- Communicating with clients and other parties involved in legal proceedings.
- Maintaining calendars and scheduling appointments.
- File Reviews for Skip-tracing
- Scheduling internal process servers, writing Affidavits of attempted locates, Affidavit of Services
- Writing Investigation Reports, and assembling evidence for our Private Investigation Department
- Organizing incoming / outgoing email and responding to the same in a timely manner.
Ideal Candidate:
- Must have strong organizational skills, and be able to prioratize
- Must be able to meet stringent deadlines
- Must be able to write concise affidavits, in a proper format and be able to have attention to detail. (This is crucial, you must be strong in being able to know your legal terminology, and know what a Style of Cause is.)
- Pleasant phone manner and be able to screen calls but also be able to assist clients calling in.
- Strong time management skills, and must be honest with respect to hours worked.

Pay: $25.00-$45.00 per hour

- When typing an Affidavit, you realize that in the documents provided to you by the client, there is a spelling error in the name of the Plaintiff. Are you able to change the spelling in the Style of Cause of your own Affidavit that you are typing in your style of cause?
- You receive a telephone call from a client, they are asking you to change an Affidavit and have it include something that your process server has not done, in order to get a desk order. Do you change the Affidavit to assist your client?
