Job description
LEGAL ADVISER JOB ADVERT
The role
The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the UK's longest-established specialist providers of legal education. With an alumni network in excess of 71,000, we’ve trained more practising lawyers in the UK than anyone else.
As our student numbers increase and we diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are looking for a capable junior solicitor to join our in-house legal team in the role of Legal Adviser.
In this role you will provide support and advice to the University on day to day and strategic legal issues, across a range of legal practice areas. This role is very much a general in-house role, giving you the chance to work on commercial, corporate and litigation matters alongside other disciplines as and when topics and issues arise.
This role is permanent and full time, with a start date as soon as possible. It is a hybrid office and home working role, with a minimum of three days in the Moorgate office per week in order to support your development and progression.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a qualified solicitor with 0-2 years’ PQE, who did a corporate or commercial seat as a trainee. You must have good attention to detail, experience of building effective working relationships with colleagues and clients and a pro-active approach to work and career development.
What do we offer?
In addition to a salary of up to £45,000 per annum, we provide a generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days, and a rewards package that includes a Private Medical Scheme, Life Assurance, a Contributory Pension Scheme, Season Ticket Loans, a Cycle to Work Scheme, Eye Care Assistance and an Employee Assistance Programme.
This is a fantastic opportunity to enter a well-established and respected department working with a range of high calibre professionals across the university. You will be joining a friendly and supportive team and will work with supervision as appropriate.
Our approach
Equity and Inclusion is central to everything we do. We are actively committed to promoting and participating in good practice in the way we attract and retain staff, as we appreciate the value and benefits of a truly diverse workforce. Aligned to this is the opportunity to join one of our three peer staff networks for Disabled staff, LGBTQ+ staff and staff from an underrepresented race, ethnicity and/or cultural heritage.
We celebrate difference and recognise the benefits that this brings to our inclusive culture, including age, disability, gender identity and expression, religion, race, sex, sexual orientation and socio economic background. The University is committed to ensuring our workforce is reflective of our diverse student population and wider society; we are striving to increase the representation of Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds across all roles and at all levels. All appointments will be made on merit.
