Job description
We are looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join our central Learning Support team, providing support to a diverse mix of students.
This role is Permanent, Full-Time, 38 weeks per year.
Candidates should have an interest in working with young people. The role is very varied and quite active, and may involve working across different programme areas, including the farm, animal welfare unit, our sport and construction facilities, both inside and outside the classroom.
Candidates will need a good standard of education, including GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent), and be enthusiastic and positive about helping young people to fulfil their potential.
Your duties
Our aim is to engage the young people, to develop their skills, confidence and independence in order to allow them to pursue their chosen area of interest, enabling them to reach their potential.
To achieve this our Learning Support Assistants support students in a variety of settings, including practical environments as well as the classroom. It is a flexible role, providing support for students in many aspects of their learning, across all vocational skills areas. Learning Support Assistants are required to maintain records in line with EHC Plans and Learning Support plans, promoting attendance, retention and achievement, and supporting students who may be at risk.
In this role you will be a role model to promote positive values and attitudes in supporting tutors to manage behaviour while participating in lessons, demonstrations and practical activities with students and trainees on all courses.
Our Learning Support Assistants play a key role in supporting young people on a daily basis and inspiring them to achieve success at Moulton College.
Person specification
We are looking for applicants that have;
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and are able to quickly build rapport
- Level 2 learning support qualification or equivalent or willingness to achieve within the first 12 months
- Experience in utilising strategies to support pupils in achieving learning goals
