As a Lead Risk Analyst, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining models used to assess and manage risk, specifically to provide support in the credit risk stress testing and regulatory reporting. You’ll be required to analyse large amounts of data, draw conclusions and drive actions.
This role is within UK Wealth & Personal Banking Risk Analytics, part of Global Risk, a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all of risk management. The team actively handles a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

If you join us, you will spend your time:
- Delivering complex analytics projects within a team, ensuring results are timely and accurate, supporting junior team members and offshore analysts as required.
- Drawing, formulating & communicating conclusions from your own work, recommending further actions where required
- Prioritising planned projects and tasks, whilst effectively managing and challenging requests for unplanned or ad-hoc work
- Taking a lead in briefings for team members/ stakeholders on progress of work, sharing knowledge, successes, and opportunities
- Identifying solutions to emerging risk issues, changing priorities, project completion issues and areas of conflict
- Challenging established policy and procedures where appropriate, and suggesting alternatives, whilst maintaining compliance with regulatory and documentation requirements
To be successful in this job, we need you to have or do most of these things:
- Previous experience in a relevant role, e.g. Credit Risk Analytics or an Analysis based role, with experience of secured or unsecured products;
- Excellent attention to detail and a track record of analytical capabilities using relevant software packages (i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA/Python) to analyse large amounts of data, draw conclusions and drive actions;
- An understanding of consumer lending products, profitability and credit risk.
- Experience of successful project management, working across a range of teams to deliver.
- You are motivated by making a positive contribution to how we support our customers and deliver for HSBC;
The role can be based in Leeds, Sheffield, Birmingham or Chester, and you will be expected to work from the office three days per week.
