CK Group are recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join a Biotechnology company at their site based near Abingdon, on a 9 month contract.

Purpose of the Job:
We are seeking a highly motivated Technician to join the Development team, to aid the advancement of mass scale insect rearing of our self-limiting technology in insect species that spread disease, damage crops and harm livestock. As a technician you will work with multiple insect colonies, delivering them to the relevant teams across department who are working towards optimizedrearing processes. All activities must be completed according to standard operating procedures and pre-defined performance requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining insect colonies for use in experiments;
- Running experiments accordingto specified protocols to develop and test rearing equipment and processes;
- Preparing and maintaining laboratory consumables and equipment;
- Collecting, recording, and entering data;
- Assisting with maintaining up to date health and safety records;
- Providing occasional weekend support as part of a rota within the R&D team.
Skills, Experience, and Education Requirements:
- Educated to A-level or equivalent experience;
- Good written English and oral communication skills;
- Decisive and assertive with a driven and proactive approach;
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility, thriving and being resilient in an environment of change and ambiguity;
- Experience of working in a biological sciences laboratory is preferred,with insect rearing expertise desirable.
