Ben Rogerson Yacht Design are offering an opportunity for a talented and motivated Yacht designer to join our team in
Hamble-le-rice in Southampton.
ABOUT BRYD
Ben Rogerson Yacht Design is a design and consultancy service with an international operation based out of Hamble, on the South Coast of the UK. We specialise in performance sailing yacht and motorboat design. BRYD provides a diverse range of services from naval architecture and concept design, through to detailed mechanical component engineering.
We pride ourselves on delivering first class bespoke custom yacht design for performance yachts, luxury motor yachts and superyacht tenders.
THE ROLE
As a Junior Yacht Designer, you will be involved across multiple disciplines from concept sketches and 3d modelling through to developing high quality renderings and visualisations. The role presents an excellent opportunity for a driven individual to work withing a small team on highly interesting projects and directly contribute to the direction of a growing business.
This role is considered most suited to a transport design graduate with yacht design specialisation and marine industry and yachting interests.
REQUIREMENTS
As a Junior Yacht Designer within the team at BRYD, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills and show a high degree of drive to deliver on time and to the highest quality expected. You will constantly strive to improve the design processes and output and be able to adapt quickly and easily to new processes and adopted software as technologies emerge.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Exceptional sketching and presentation skills.
Experienced In the use of Wacom or similar pen displays.
Excellent 3d design modelling skills, with high level of ability to translate concepts and ideas to 3d designs.
A highly practical mindset in approaching the development of new design elements, with good understanding of production processes to enable feasible design output with respect to manufacture.
Ability to produce clear and coherent production details for manufacture.
Ability to easily adapt to new software and processes in evolution of the company design processes.
SOFTWARE
Fluent in the use of the Adobe suit of programs including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
High level of ability and competence in parametric modelling software’s (ideally Siemens NX)
Experience using AutoCAD or similar design drafting software.
Expert level of competence using rendering software such as Keyshot or similar.
Knowledge of website design processes within WordPress.
