Job description
This is an exciting role within the Mind & Body programme to deliver improvement projects across two Mental Health Trusts in South East London (Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust). These projects seek to improve the physical health and wellbeing of people living with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), translating best practice in physical healthcare into new settings and services for this clinical population in South East London and beyond.
The following are key areas of focus:
- Working with a variety of teams in mental health settings to support physical health interventions for adults with SMI
- Supporting the development of relationships with partners in organisations across South East London
- Supporting the delivery of projects within the Mind & Body programme
At King’s Health Partners (KHP), the Mind & Body programme works across South East London and beyond to enable joined up and integrated physical and mental healthcare to ultimately reduce the current health inequalities faced by people with physical long term conditions and people with severe mental illness. We know that addressing the mental health needs of those with physical conditions and addressing the physical health needs of those with mental health conditions improves outcomes for service users and patients. Key priorities for the programme are to:
- Establish what good mind and body care looks like;
- Develop a mind and body approach to practice; and
- Support organisations to achieve change and improvement in practice.
- Support work with the Trust Physical Health Teams to identify improvement areas, scope high impact actions, and facilitate enhanced access and quality of physical health
- Provide support to the Mind & Body Programme Manager to help them to develop, implement and monitor projects and resolve issues and ensure all project documentation is organised and maintained to a good standard
- Work with multi-disciplinary teams across departments and external organisations to provide guidance with regards to the management, progression and sustainability of Mind & Body projects
- Proactively build relationships and work closely with a range of colleagues across organisations to encourage collaborative working
- Communicate complex and sometimes conflicting or contentious information with a high level of sensitivity and diplomacy, including to audiences who may be challenging
- Develop robust relationships with key contacts and team members and proactively manage these relationships so contacts can count on reliable and knowledgeable support and information about the programme or other activities
- Provide a comprehensive level of knowledge about all aspects of the Mind & Body Programme and act as a helpful and approachable source of advice and guidance to all staff
