Pretty Lavish continues to emerge within the fashion industry bridging the gap between high street and designer brands. Recognised for our sophisticated occasionwear, luxury knitwear and more recently our sleek and modern bridesmaids collection. We strive to make luxury affordable by designing quality, timeless and versatile designs that can be worn day to night, season to season and loved for years to come.
Supporting the design team, you’ll create knitwear designs across all categories and liaise with the buying and technical team to ensure expectations for the final product are met.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Developing seasonal knitwear design concepts through catwalk inspiration, market research and comp shops, ensuring these are innovative and true to the brand aesthetic
- Designing and developing inspiring and commercial knitwear collections that fully represent the brand’s aesthetic
- Working collaboratively with the wider design team, presenting ideas at meetings to the Design & Creative manager and ensuring briefs are met
- Providing technical knitwear knowledge and support to the business as and where necessary
- Managing and supporting the Design Assistant on amending sketches, updating colour cards and completing an overview of sketch launches (including fabric and colour allocation)
- Working with key members of the buying & technical team on the critical path, ensuring design deadlines are met and the desired quality standards are achieved
- Maintaining and developing a great understand of knitwear construction and production constraints
- Produce detailed tech packs, liaising with suppliers & factories to ensure ideas are communicated clearly and confidently
- Researching ways to elevate our knitwear collections from new trims to finer details, ensuring relevant lifestyle, product, colour and fabric trends are covered off
- Identifying new product opportunities to ensure our knitwear collections continue to be inspirational and competitive
- Working collaboratively with suppliers on sourcing new knit yarns/stitch techniques for each season in alignment with the brand vision
- Attend weekly fit sessions giving input into design details
- Good understanding of costings and how to achieve target margins
Qualification, skills and experience
- Completed fashion related degree
- Experience in a knitwear design role within a fast-paced fashion environment
- Confidence and ability to work at pace, creating sketched CADs and technical drawings for factories
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- A positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn
- A confident individual with the ability to individually present work to a wider team
- Confident using Adobe Software (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
