About the Role

The Junior Business Analyst (JBA) will facilitate the capture of requirements in a style appropriate to the project (outcomes/epics, stories/capabilities, features/functions) which articulate the needs of the business in a testable manner that inform the design.
The JBA will help protect and deliver the Appreciate Group’s strategy by assessing and analysing the business implications of the change and appropriately challenging to fully understand the underlying needs of the business case and not just copy what is asked for.
The JBA will work closely with a variety of stakeholders to gain insight of AG and to communicate the requirements clearly.
The JBA may be asked to act as intermediary between AG and third-party vendors.
Principal Accountabilities/Main Responsibilities
- Uncover the underlying requirements (functional and non-functional) that need to be satisfied to meet the business case
- Analyse, document and work with the requirements owners to organise, specify and model the requirements to ensure they are complete and unambiguous.
- Specify requirements in a manner and style which is relevant to the project and can be easily tested.
- Validate and verify requirements, making sure that the requirements map to the business need being addressed, they are approved by all the appropriate stakeholders and that they meet with relevant quality standards.
- Research existing systems explore the current state of the system and create a current state model in sufficient detail for the task.
- Identify improvement opportunities, by using the current state model, identify what gaps and opportunities need to be addressed and create a target model, with transition states where appropriate.
- Understand end-to-end business cycles and processes
- Participate in project planning sessions, specifically in backlog selection and refinement
- Work with designers and developers to make sure they understand the requirements and provide clarity where needed
- Assist testers in understanding relevant acceptance criteria
- Provide end-to-end traceability records for functionality delivered to the test team and the business

Essential:
- You have a passion for creating solutions with a positive attitude to change
- You have strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to talk and present to a range of audiences, sometimes acting as a translator between parties
- You have strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
- You have the ability to work without supervision and plan/organise multiple work streams within your project timeframes
- You have an excellent analytical skills and an informed, evidence-based approach
- You have an understanding of information technology.
- You have experience of Microsoft Office (Excel and Powerpoint)
Desirable:
- You have knowledge of project delivery approaches, including Waterfall and Agile
- You have experience of working within a project
- You have knowledge of financial organisations.
- You have experience of process mapping
- You have experience of Microsoft Devops – or other similar agile based tool
- You have knowledge of the UK retail sector
