Job Description:
As a Senior Java Developer, you will work in a global team, handling incidents and problems primarily in the UK but also across Europe, Asia, and the US. Your expertise will contribute to the success of our dynamic, high-performing team, driving the advancement of Retail and Web Retail technology.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 3rd/4th line support to customers.
- Troubleshoot and analyze issues to identify causes and resolutions.
- Manage P1/P2 issues and provide support to application support specialists.
- Monitor the platform (Zabbix) and adhere to Change, Incident, and Problem management guidelines.
- Collaborate on change planning, deployment, and review processes.
- Analyze and reproduce issues reported by Customers.
- Implement bug fixes and provide occasional out-of-hours support for urgent customer issues on a weekly rota basis.
Core Skills and Experience:
- Strong Java programming skills.
- Experience in database development using ANSI SQL and JDBC.
- Proficiency in supporting Java applications.
- Working knowledge of XML, XML Schema, XSLT, and JSON.
- Web development experience - Servlets, JavaScript.
- Familiarity with at least one J2EE container such as Tomcat.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Docker/Jenkins and team working skills.
- Effective communication skills, including customer interaction.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- JSP development experience.
- System administration and troubleshooting of live systems.
- Retail experience, especially in a web or store environment.
- Cloud deployment experience in Azure and AWS.
- Experience in planning, deploying, and reviewing changes for critical applications.
- Supporting Java applications in Apache Tomcat, JWS, or similar containers.
