POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support and maintenance for all general EMS IT hardware and software components, including Computer Automated Dispatch (CAD) applications. The position involves ensuring that EMS departments' applications are up to date and that application hardware meets operational requirements. The role also requires providing guidance on system networking and operations to comply with vendor requirements. Additionally, generating daily/monthly reports for EMS directors to demonstrate operational status is a key responsibility. The position requires maintaining composure during crises while problem-solving in the high-stress and time-intensive atmosphere of EMS/IT. Furthermore, managing inventory activity and asset management for all EMS-related IT devices is an essential duty.
Responsibilities:DUTIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide excellent customer service to EMS system operations as required.
- Oversee new installations and upgrades to existing applications as directed.
- Establish a positive relationship with system vendors for system maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrades, and development.
- Develop and implement operational reports and reporting structure.
- Troubleshoot software and hardware issues promptly.
- Coordinate new system development and improvements with the IT Manager.
- Participate as a team member in planning, problem resolution, and reviewing IT operational performance.
- Cross-train with EMS-IT staff to ensure proper application hardware setup and maintenance.
- Maintain current Tableau reporting software and generate ad-hoc reports as requested.
- Manage field support calls when required.
- Possess knowledge of SQL servers and collaborate with SQL Report services as requested by the IT Manager.
- Monitor application servers to ensure expected capabilities.
- Diagnose and resolve desktop hardware and software problems in accordance with system requirements and best practices.
- Provide help desk support to end-users via phone, email, and in-person communication.
- Engage positively with end-users to understand their needs, identify solutions, provide assistance, and educate for future concerns.
- Assist IT Corporate Security in identifying, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Stay updated on new technology and recommend its implementation.
- Train staff and end-users on the proper use of hardware and software as needed.
- Apply skills to various applications, hardware, and situations within an enterprise IT environment.
- Make recommendations for system improvements and determine hardware or software requirements for such changes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the EMS-IT Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong technical IT skills.
- Proficiency in IT problem-solving and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Powershell and Bash is a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Team-oriented attitude.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Available for after-hours support and on-call rotation.
- Possesses a high degree of integrity and trust and can work independently.
REQUIRED:
- Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, functions, data manipulation, and data cleaning.
- Data analysis and visualization skills using tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python. Understanding how to interpret and present data visually is crucial for effective communication of insights.
- Database management knowledge, including database concepts, data modeling, and SQL querying. Ability to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources while ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Familiarity with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions), a formula language used in Microsoft Power BI and Excel Power Pivot for data modeling and analysis. Understanding DAX functions and expressions is important for advanced calculations and creating custom measures and calculations.
PREFERRED:
- Familiarity with SharePoint administration, including setting up and administering SharePoint sites, managing permissions, and organizing data and documents for efficient collaboration.
- Fundamental Active Directory management for server management.
- Experience in managing remote devices using Microsoft's Azure cloud platform (Microsoft Intune).

Education:
- Minimum: College degree in Information Technology or Mathematics. Equivalent years of experience may be substituted.
- Understanding of database concepts, networking principles, and basic/advanced hardware and software knowledge required.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience, depending on educational level.
- Demonstrated experience with complex data analysis, hardware installations/repair, and software integration/installation/support.
- Customer support/Help Desk capabilities.
- Process improvement experience is a plus.
Certification and Licensure:
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
- Appropriate certifications as they apply to specialized areas of expertise.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods and work a variety of shifts while performing the duties of this job.
- Regularly required to talk and hear, frequently using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Works inside the operational offices of EMS, with a moderate noise level in the work environment.
