When you think of The AA, you probably didn’t immediately associate us as a tech business. What you may not know is, our AA Tech business is vast, skilled, fast-paced and possess a wealth of knowledge. We are looking for a Lead IT Developer – that is where you come in!
Joining the AA family as a Lead IT Developer, you will lead the development and implementation of assigned IT projects within our AA Cars business, as well as manage the support of these systems post-implementation. You will manage all development and integration activities associated with medium to complex cross-functional projects, with responsibility for the technical delivery across the systems development life. From technical design to development testing, and maintenance activities; you’ll create and manage delivery plans and required development resources to ensure business requirements are completely satisfied, on time, and within budget.
Within AA Cars, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the Confidentiality, Integrity, and availability of all core systems and information but also drive forward product vision on motor dealer systems contributing to the overall strategic direction for IT between AA Group and AA Cars, introducing the appropriate methodologies and tools to facilitate scale and growth.
What will I be doing?
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the AA Cars’ growth strategy and operation and how IT capabilities/services support the business to succeed
- Provision of technical thought leadership into the business strategy and execution, specifically identification and delivery of opportunities to improve business outcomes through better use of technology or technical capabilities (e.g., automation)
- Ensure the IT roadmap includes platform currency ensuring all necessary patching, upgrades, and ‘platform-driven change’
- Ensure the right governance is in place to manage the delivery of the IT roadmap (accountabilities, forums, stakeholders, controls)
- Help the business define a clear set of priorities and requirements, from which a clear set of tasks/projects can be defined and delivered
- Develop/define all technical business requirements and design appropriate solutions which are pragmatic, deliverable, and future-proofed
- Deliver technical deliverables (design, coding, testing) across the full lifecycle where appropriate and adhering to agreed standards and controls
- Ensure the right governance is in place to support AA cars infrastructure/application components as well as specific service provisions to the business (accountabilities, forums, stakeholders, controls)
- Ensure regular security testing of AA Cars infrastructure/applications (in line with AA Group policies) and any remediation action is taken where necessary to remain within risk appetite
What do I need?
Essential:
- Demonstrable experience leading IT Infrastructure, Networks and Operations environments
- Strong PHP development experience alongside Linux server and databases skills
- Possess broad knowledge/experience with varying software systems/tools i.e., Salesforce, Redmine, JS, Javascript, Wordpress, Microsoft Power BI. MySQL, RESTful APIs, Linux, Bash, Python etc.
- Solutionise problems by applying creative and innovative thinking, challenging status quo, and drive beneficial process improvements
- Experience with either coaching/mentoring and/or supervisory/management experience
- Ability to collaborate with all colleague levels and multi-business unit areas driving forward positive and proactive change
Desirable:
- Computer Science educational degree or equivalent qualification
- Other related professional qualifications
