Main Position Objectives :
The incumbent shall:
- Act as the primary point of contact for requests from NACAP’s Special Projects Group, and help prioritize their requests, including, but not limited to, the creation of project employee and consultant accounts, the delivery of equipment, software installation, etc. The incumbent shall follow up on the Special Projects Team’s IT requests to ensure resolution.
- Participate in NACAP Special Projects Group meetings to help determine their IT needs. Document project requirements and propose effective solutions to meet the special needs. Help implement solutions and ensure that project group members are properly trained.
- Assess users’ business needs, analyzing them and implementing appropriate IT solutions. Supervise and manage various projects such as the modification or implementation of IT systems.
- Recommend solutions to users based on market best practices.
- Forecast, monitor and manage the IT budget for major NACAP projects and make sure equipment is available for the project. Handle SAP requisitions for IT project requirements and ensure purchase orders (PO) and invoices are processed.
- Provide detailed monthly follow-up of activity summary, problems encountered, solutions implemented and next steps. Meet periodically with relevant NACAP Major Projects Group resources to review unaddressed requests and plan for their resolution.
- Optimize work to maintain the quality of IT services while enabling major projects to meet their goals.
- Maintain a stable, efficient and secure IT environment to ensure high availability of IT systems while complying with Glencore policies, guidelines and standards.
- Install new equipment and maintain existing equipment in working order (computers, printers, monitors). Install and set up new workstations. Install necessary software while ensuring compliance with Glencore standards.
- Provide computer support (troubleshooting services) to users, use the call system to enter customer calls, prioritize, execute work, enter solutions, follow up with users and close calls. Provide on-call services to the Horne Smelter site on a rotating basis.
- Carry out preventive maintenance on IT equipment, check warranties on faulty equipment, send it in for repair or exchange, renew the materials needed to maintain this equipment.
- Place purchase orders (PCs, network cards, hard drives, etc.). Manage software license inventory to stay legal and manage IT infrastructure inventory including PCs, laptops and printers.
- Implement new technologies using test labs, limited pilot projects and then large-scale roll-out to ensure delivery of effective IT solutions and user service.
- Perform tasks and responsibilities at the divisional level of the IT group when required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of information technologies according to business requirements. Provide assistance to IT users in order to get the most out of their respective environments by promoting efficiency and autonomy.
- Ensure that everything put in place as part of the project (project planning, actions taken, installations, inventory, etc.) is documented and that other IT team members are trained to ensure continuity of activities and operations.
- Ensure the smooth operation of systems in the absence of other IT Technicians. The IT Analyst shall be able to carry out the IT Technicians’ tasks, or hold a list of resources that can help ensure that the systems run smoothly.
Skills :
- DCS in computer science or equivalent combination of training and experience in a similar position. At least 3 years of experience as an IT Technician or System Administrator
- Proficiency in French and English (both written and oral).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft tools (Office Suite, including Visio, Project, Team, etc.).
- Proactive and self-managing, results-oriented, customer service-oriented, team player with good communication skills
- Thoroughness and ability to plan and organize work according to established objectives
- Versatility, good learning skills
- Ability to work concurrently on several projects while meeting deadlines
- Strong problem-solving skills. Ability to apply innovative and creative solutions. Good analytical and synthesis skills.
