Job description

We are the Government’s National College for Digital Skills and are passionate about educating, supporting and creating the next generation of digital pioneers.


We are a specialist digital college where all our students are passionate about tech and we are committed to supporting them to progress onto highly skilled roles in the digital sector. All students study computer science for at least 66% of their curriculum, with regular off-curriculum industry projects with partners such as King Games, Deloitte, Bank of America and Salesforce.

Our students achieve highly across all subjects and progress to an amazing range of destinations. In Summer 2020 these included: Deloitte, Vodafone, KPMG, Goldman Sachs, BT, BBC, Oxford University, Nottingham University, Queen Mary University and many more with over 70% progressing to their first choice destination.

Main Responsibilities:

To be aware of the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) exam requirements and JCQ “Adjustments for candidates with disabilities and learning difficulties Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments”

To assist the Chief Invigilator, Exams officer and/or Assistant Principal with the following:

  • Seating students in the exam hall in an appropriate manner.
  • Checking identification of all students.
  • Maintaining exam conditions in the exam room.
  • Ensuring that coats and bags are stored away from exam desks and are not accessible by students.
  • Ensuring pencil cases are clear see-through, removing those that do not conform. Checking that calculators and calculator cases do not contain unauthorised material. Ensuring that student drinks have labels removed from bottles.
  • Distributing papers and any other authorised materials to candidates.
  • Supervising students in a quiet and unobtrusive manner.
  • Responding to students' queries in accordance with exam regulations.
  • Supervising students who need to be isolated between exams.
  • Distributing additional paper/equipment as required.
  • Collecting scripts at the end of the exam and sorting into attendance register order.
  • Checking that the exam room is clear of litter or graffiti after the exam
  • Read to or scribe for candidates following guidance laid out in JCQ “Adjustments for candidates with disabilities and learning difficulties. Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments”

Additionally

  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings, training and personal development as required.
  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
  • Be aware of access arrangements to ensure all students have the opportunity to participate in examinations.
  • To demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to equal opportunities and diversity and to the standards of care for students.
  • Be responsible for your own health and safety, as well as that of colleagues, students and the public.
  • Cooperate with management, follow established systems of work, use protective equipment where necessary and report defects and hazards to management.
