The Role:
The M&G plc Treasury & Investment Office (T&IO) is responsible for the management of Prudential UK’s With-Profits, Annuity and Unit-Linked funds, with more than £150bn of funds under management. T&IO works closely with the various asset management businesses within the M&G plc Group, and other external managers, to structure multi-asset portfolios aligned with the investment objectives of our clients.
The Long-Term Investment Strategy team (LTIS) determines the optimal Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) and the strategic hedging policies for Prudential’s multi-asset portfolios. As part of this, LTIS develops its proprietary capital markets assumptions and stochastic modelling capabilities to model the risks, returns and correlations between different asset class, asset sub-classes and macro-economic factors across different geographies over the medium to long term. Additionally, these assumptions and modelling capabilities are used internally within the M&G Group by Finance and Product Development.
The Analyst is responsible for investment strategy and modelling capabilities within the team.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Long Term and Medium-Term Assumptions - The candidate will also from time to time be expected to assist the Long-Term Investment Strategy Team to build its long-term equilibrium economic assumptions and medium-term views, including its expectations of returns across a wide spectrum of asset classes and geographies, as well as its views on volatilities and correlations across these asset classes. This will involve significant modelling skills.
- Product Design – The candidate may assist the Long-Term Investment Strategy Team in the design of new investment products, based on the team’s portfolio optimisation methodology and T&IO’s views on different asset classes.
- Strategic Asset Allocation - The Long-Term Investment Strategy Team manages the strategic asset allocation (SAA) and associated tactical asset allocation (TAA) limits (SAA tolerance levels) for different multi-asset funds, while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and Prudential Group constraints. The candidate will help the team in framing the SAA advice and recommendations while considering its medium and long term views of expected returns and risks of different asset classes.
- To work collaboratively with colleagues and take personal accountability to maintain and enhance controls you are responsible for to support improvement of the overall control environment, customers outcomes and a reduction in M&G’s operational risk.
