ABACUS New Business Team (NBT) Underwriting Technician
This is a full-time role with working hours of 09:00-17:15 (with 1 unpaid hour for lunch), Monday to Friday.
Current/recent insurance experience preferably in let property / property owners insurance (within broking or underwriting) or transferable skills would be nice but not essential, as this is a trainee vacancy.
Minimum grade C/4 in GCSE (or equivalent) Maths & English is required.
Annual salary on offer is at least National Living Wage, with potential to earn more via our monthly bonus scheme (on successful completion of probation period).

JOB PURPOSE
To work towards providing the administration of an insurance service to existing and potential new insurance agents on a daily basis, including general enquiries, quotations, hold covers and referrals under the supervision of your Team Leader.
Main duties:
1. Uphold the Core Values of the Company at all times
2. Respond to enquiries received in a courteous, confident and helpful manner
3. Work as an effective member of the team
4. Work within NBT service standards
5. Obtain a basic knowledge of products of ABACUS
6. Obtain a basic knowledge of our Insurers and their corresponding rating guides
7. Thorough understanding of the core functions of the ABACUS website
8. Obtain a basic understanding of Open Gi back office system
9. Identify and allocate emails to correct document types and assign to workflow
10. Refer cases to your line manager where they are beyond your competency level or ability
11. Process Insurer replies under supervision of line manager
12. Control your own diary system ensuring all items are followed up by the due dates
13. Check that all documentation is accurate, complete and sent in a reasonable timescale
14. Any other duties that may be required by your line manager in accordance with the nature of this job
