Job summary
In May 2021, the Prime Minister made a statement in the House of Commons that the Government will establish an independent public inquiry on a statutory basis, with full powers under the Inquiries Act of 2005.
In December 2021 Baroness Heather Hallett DBE was appointed as Chair to the Inquiry and following an initial set up phase we are now looking for exceptional staff to join the Inquiry team.
The Inquiry is seeking a Head of Media to lead a small press office that is based across the UK. The Inquiry sits independent of the Government with the Cabinet office acting as the sponsoring department.

Job description
The Information Management Engagement Lead will be part of the team responsible for ensuring that all the relevant material reviewed over the course of the Inquiry is made available to core participants in line with the Inquiry Act and Rules, that the Inquiry complies with GDPR, the Data Protection Act and ECHR Article 8 in handling significant volumes of sensitive material, and that the Inquiry’s official report and records are archived in line with the Act and Rules.
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Information Management this role sits within the Inquiry’s Information Management team, which is part of the directorate that will oversee a range of corporate functions including risk, information management and the programme management office
This role may involve occasional travel to sites other than the candidate’s base location. The role will also involve the line management of one or more direct reports, depending on the team's need.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Ensuring that our Inquiry work meets regulatory requirements as specified by its information strategy, policy and supporting guidance.
- Developing and delivering the Information Governance comms plan, communicating in ways that ensures that recipients are able to understand, assimilate and follow policies and guidance.
- Developing and maintaining an Information Governance training programme that effectively supports changes in behaviours. required of staff to act in line with information-related legislation.
- Creating a positive, constructive programme that engages and is engaging to recipients, ensuring the focus is on changing behaviours both at work and from home based working.
- Incorporating flexibility, creativity and adaptability of delivery and content to counter potential changing work scenarios and situations.
- Proactively engaging across the Inquiry to promote and facilitate intra-team collaboration.
- Developing and maintaining communication and training success metrics framework that can effectively measure requirements and outcomes for reporting purposes.

Essential Criteria:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex subjects in a simple, clear and concise manner.
- Experience of developing and delivering training.
- Experience developing and delivering communication campaigns.
- An understanding of human factors and experience of influencing and organisational culture, especially by innovative means.
- An understanding of the core concepts of knowledge and information management, the challenges an organisation faces in managing information through its life cycle.
- Experience in applying information assurance or data protection principles.
- Possession of, or working towards, knowledge and information management certifications.

New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band.
The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, i.e. level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.
