Job description
The infant feeding team are looking for an Infant Feeding Practitioner to join us in supporting families across Derby and contribute towards life changing differences for local children.
You will work closely with relatives, carers and colleagues across the 0-19 service, local children's centres and midwifery services. You will work with the Family Hub to deliver infant feeding support and education to communities across the city.
You will be part of a compassionate team that values your input, knowledge, experience and ideas which, as a result, will help influence the ongoing development of the infant feeding team and 0-19 Public Health Service.
You will need good interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with families and a wide range of professionals at all levels in a confident manner.
As an infant feeding practitioner your role will include
- Facilitating antenatal education sessions to allow parents to be to make informed choices on how to feed their baby
- Support parents through home visits, group support and telephone/virtual contacts completing thorough feeding assessments and formulating plans to help parents meet their feeding goals, under the supervision of the Infant Feeding Lead.
- Completing audits with clients and staff to contribute towards the service maintaining Baby Friendly Accreditation
- Support in delivery of education to the 0-19 staff and wider services
