JOB PURPOSE: The Associate Director of Academic Affairs facilitates operations of the office of Academic Affairs, oversees program direction for advising and faculty development and engagement, oversees a wide range of academic staff and faculty personnel processes, and superintends personnel data and reporting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Associate Director of Academic Affairs collaborates closely with the Chief of Staff on faculty personnel matters and data reporting and directs the processes related to academic in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Curriculum and International Initiatives. Essential Duties include:
- Oversee the academic advising program, including partnering with other campus leaders on program direction, development, design, and implementation.
- Partner with Student Affairs on designing and implementing New Student Orientation
- Direct and oversee collection of course feedback and evaluations.
- Onboard new academic affairs staff members and provide professional development programming.
- Oversee academic faculty personnel processes for contract renewals and promotions.
- Partner with other offices to analyze data and provide data-driven reports on academic personnel.
- Oversee faculty onboarding and faculty engagement programming.
- Manage teaching awards and track grants from a large endowment dedicated to pedagogy.
- Support for faculty governance
- Oversee and manage special projects/tasks/duties and provide assistance as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Experience: bachelor’s degree required; MA or PhD preferred; some knowledge of or experience with liberal arts education preferred.
Understanding of faculty tenure system is required. Experience with academic personnel processes is desired. Program management and program development experience is desired. Project management experience is required.

REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Overtime, holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division.
ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: Regular, full-time, exempt position. The monthly salary for this role is between $7,088.58-$7,651.67, with a competitive benefits package. The specific factors that the organization will consider when offering a salary to an individual will include education, training, prior experience, and performance in prior role. All staff positions are ineligible for visa or permanent resident card sponsorship. As a California employer, Pomona College requires all employees to be residents of California.
