As an Industrial Engineer within the Mechanical team, you’ll help us to make every journey better. Especially because the work you do will touch on all aspects of Heathrow life – you will be actively involved with its lifts, escalators, passenger conveyors, airbridges, heating, cooling, ventilation and all water systems that support our terminal operations, airfield and specialist structures such as our control tower.
Consideration for either a full-time position or a part-time 20 hours (p/w) position.
Your role will involve:
- Working closely with the Senior Mechanical Engineers to decide what we do to our assets to keep them safe and reliable.
- Reviewing the asset strategies, standards and plans, then ensuring these are understood and applied effectively across Heathrow.
- Evaluating the benefits of new products and technologies for use at Heathrow.
- Developing a thorough and quantified understanding of how our assets perform in terms of cost, risk and service performance.
- Supporting assurance activities on delivery teams within capital delivery projects and maintenance teams to ensure asset plans are being robustly applied and have appropriate plans in place to manage risk.
These skills are essential:
- Mechanical Engineering Masters or Bachelor’s degree OR qualified through experience OR currently studying towards qualification.
- Skill to influence at all levels of the organisation to drive the overall agenda for asset management and execution of the strategy.
- Work alongside technical specialists to achieve defined outcomes.
- Some knowledge and experience of asset management and maintenance practices, methodologies, and strategies.
- Ability to translate and present both data and technical knowledge in a meaningful way.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer with the IMechE or ICE.
