Job introduction

Brighton & Hove is a great place to live, learn, work and visit. Our diverse and vibrant community is passionate about the city and there’s a shared commitment to celebrating and promoting all that makes Brighton & Hove so unique.

You’ll be working in a directorate that is dedicated to empowering people from different communities and backgrounds to live well and thrive, supported by our city-wide work on fairness, inclusion, and engagement. You’ll have an ability to communicate with a diverse range of stakeholders, a deep understanding of the needs of our different communities and residents, and the skills to ensure accessibility and inclusion in your work.

We are committed to delivering an outstanding service to our residents and to making the Tenancy Team within our Housing, Neighbourhood and Communities Directorate the first choice for you to work.

If you are looking to work in a flexible and forward-thinking organisation, you have excellent customer service and administrative skills with some knowledge of housing benefits and are looking for an exciting new challenge, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

If you would like to discuss the opportunities available or would like to find out more about a career in Housing, please email [email protected] or [email protected], Income Service Managers, to arrange a conversation.

About the role

This role is critical when it comes to providing advice and support to our tenants. You will support our Housing Income Officers in providing a professional service, whilst also offering income advice to new and existing tenants. Your superb customer service skills will be utilised when you support the team with phone and email queries. You will be proactive in contacting new tenants to undertake benefit checks and providing advice and support to them to ensure a smooth and seamless service.

This customer-facing, administrative role offers lots of variety in a team that is supportive and progressive. We offer specialist in-house training on income management and housing, as well as operating a bursary scheme for more formal qualifications. There are opportunities for career progression, which we actively support and encourage.

We offer hybrid working, with a minimum of two days a week in the office depending on service requirements, to support a positive work / life balance. We can also offer fully office-based arrangements as an option. Our diverse team is based at our Housing Centre in Moulsecoomb. On the days you are working in the office you will be in a spacious and welcoming working environment, with a friendly and supportive team.

In return, we can offer you a competitive salary, training and qualifications, career progression with the opportunity to become involved with bespoke projects, flexible working, a generous annual leave allowance with the opportunity to buy extra days, staff discounts, and admittance into the Local Government Pension Scheme.
