Job description
We have a new opportunity for an enthusiastic lawyer to join our small Legal team. We are looking for a quality lawyer who is perhaps looking for a better work/life balance, while still working on interesting and complex legal issues. This permanent in-house role will require advice and support across a wide range of legal issues.
You will provide pro-active, timely and well-informed legal advice on a wide range of matters that impact on the University, including complex issues that involve the application of contract, commercial, consumer, regulatory compliance, property, charity and data protection law. You will manage a full and varied caseload of legal matters using internal expertise or externally commissioned advice as appropriate. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels and disciplines and work effectively independently and as part of a team. We require a qualified lawyer (current practising certificate is preferred but not required). The wide-ranging nature of the role requires a qualified lawyer who is able to adapt to change, provide commercial advice and research areas of law they are not familiar with.

We are happy to consider part-time and job share applications
Working here means you’ll also have access to a wide range of benefits including our generous pension schemes, excellent holiday entitlements, reduced study fees, subsidised fitness facilities and a lot more.
We welcome applications from all individuals and particularly from black and minority ethnic candidates as members of these groups are currently under-represented at this level of post. All appointments will be based on merit.
