The Common Travel Area Liaison Officer is an exciting, dynamic role designed to ensure successful engagement with CTA partners (UK and Ireland). Through deep collaboration with Irish partners and Home Office departments, we use the latest data and evidence to tackle CTA immigration travel abuse.
The role will require gathering and developing information that is then disseminated to the relevant authorities/departments. The successful candidate will develop open and transparent relationships that continuously improve/maintain the reputation of the Home Office in Ireland.
- Work closely with Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) and travel authorities to identify those who seek to enter the UK illegally via Irish air and seaports.
- Deliver regular training to partner agencies.
- Provide the Irish Naturalisation Immigration Service (INIS) and British Embassies abroad with intelligence to assist decision making regarding those who seek visas to enter both the UK and Ireland.
- Continuously review data concerning those who have been refused entry into Ireland and have failed to comply with bail conditions.
- Conduct checks on HO systems and other systems to establish whether individuals have entered the UK illegally and action accordingly.
- Assist the removal of immigration offenders within the CTA by acting as a liaison between the removing and accepting state.
- Provide CTA intelligence reports for Northern Ireland ICE and the wider IE by being innovative and work collaboratively with other stakeholders.
- Liaise with both the British and Irish authorities to ensure that all work is compliant with GDPR and other relevant legislation.
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with all agencies involved with the CTA.
Immigration Enforcement are looking for an enthusiastic Executive Officer to support the team in their Common Travel Area work.
You will provide support to the team on administrative matters, including co-data sharing with stakeholders, managing a dedicated email inquiry inbox, providing accurate information in a timely manner, as well as taking a leading role in CTA related meetings with the relevant stakeholders.
The job will require frequent weekly travel to Dublin, travel and subsistence can be claimed in line with current policy. The travel to Dublin may require early morning travel.

- Be organised and able to work well under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.

- Must hold a Full valid UK manual driving licence.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in a partnership engagement role.
- A sound working knowledge of the common travel area.
- Previous experience of delivering training.
- Experience with working within GDPR regulations and sensitive data exchange.

Sift and interview dates

Interviews are expected to take place from 26th June 2023
Interviews will be either a video interview utilising Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams or face to face depending on business requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to time constraints we may not be able to offer alternative interview date(s). It is therefore expected that candidates who are successful at sift stage will make themselves available during the above time frame given.
Further Information
For meaningful checks to be carried out, individuals need to have lived in the UK for a sufficient period of time to enable appropriate checks to be carried out and produce a result which provides the required level of assurance. You should normally have been resident in the United Kingdom for the last 3 years if the role requires CTC clearance, 5 years for SC clearance and 10 years for DV. A lack of UK residency in itself is not necessarily a bar to a security clearance and applicants should contact the Vacancy Holder/Recruiting Manager listed in the advert for further advice.
Where multiple locations are available a location based reserve list of successful candidates will be kept for 12 months. Should another role or similar role become available within that period you may be offered this position.
