Job Summary
Kafe Bloc is a lively and unique space that provides a social hub in Kettering’s Cultural Quarter.
The Café Assistant is a key role in providing a warm welcome and fantastic customer service to all customers and ensuring smooth running of the daily operation..
The successful candidate will have bags of enthusiasm, great interpersonal skills, a passion for providing excellent service and an ability to stay calm under pressure. Full training will be provided but Barista Skills and experience in a catering/retail environment would be an advantage.
Hours - 12 to 20 per week from Monday to Saturday
Responsibilities and Duties
MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
- Setting up and ensuring the café is ready to trade each day
- Attending team, front of house and staff meetings as appropriate
- Willingness to attend training as appropriate
- Providing exceptional the front of house service,
- Taking orders, dealing with cash and card transactions.
- Preparing drinks orders.
- Delivering drinks / food orders to tables.
- Assisting with food preparation
- Clearing tables, cleaning and processing crockery & cutlery through dishwasher
- Ensuring high levels of cleanliness and hygiene are met at all times
- Providing a warm and welcoming environment and ensuring that customer service is efficient and outstanding
- Maintain excellent levels of communication with colleagues
- Be responsible for completion of cleaning rota, cleaning of café area and completion of daily records for health and safety
- Stock Management – Assisting management by identifying restocking requirements
- Licensing- Be aware of licensing restrictions and ensure adherence

- Use of Manual Espresso Coffee machine
- Use of EPOS systems
- Knowledge of Food handling and food hygiene
- Knowledge of Current licensing laws
Qualifications Essential - Food Hygiene qualification – level1/2.
- Desirable - Emergency First Aid
