This is a permanent position and will be based out of our Glasgow office, however we can offer flexibility as you will be required to attend our Hydro sites on a regular basis in Galloway, Lanark and Cruachan.
About the role
As an Engineering Manager for our Hydro sites, you’ll report into the Head of Hydro and have a responsibility for a team of around 10 direct reports.
Day to day you’ll have engineering responsibility for the hydro sites and look after the investment plans, reliability plans and provide technical support to the sites. You’ll be involved in lots of different projects and liaise with senior stakeholders at our other plants to ensure consistency across all the different sites within Drax Group. You’ll also have to support other locations as needed.
You’ll support the business plan and provide effective leadership and strategic direction that ensures short, long and medium-term performance of the Engineering team to deliver best in class performance that ensures that risk, contribution and expenditure are optimised to meet the prevailing economics.
You’ll be evaluating and monitoring the effectiveness and delivery of the maintenance strategy deployed at each site by the Operations & Maintenance Manager, and manage the technical risk process and engineering standards.
About you
Ideally you’ll be a chartered Engineer, however this isn’t essential, but we are looking for someone who is degree level qualified in Engineering and is a member of an Engineering Institute.
You’ll need experience in budget management, and be willing to travel on a regular basis to our different sites.
You’ll need to have prior experience in a heavy engineering environment, and be a proven leader with experience in managing multi-discipline teams, driving positive employee engagement.
