Job description
Marshall University Human Resources Department is seeking to fill an HR Representative position to perform generalist duties in the following areas: Benefits, and Customer Service Support. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Conducts orientation sessions for new employees regarding the benefits package by outlining available options, answering questions, and assuring the completion of all benefits forms. Counsels current employees making benefit changes due to life events.
- Coordinates and advertises annual Open Enrollment process; attends Benefit Coordinator meetings; reviews new materials prior to distribution to employees. Meets with employees regarding changes, collects forms, and works with vendors.
- Coordinates the distribution of informational material and/or policy changes from benefit vendors to eligible employees by email or other forms of correspondence and/or informational meetings.
- Collaborates with HR Leadership Team to coordinate the annual Health and Wellness Fair by contacting vendors, scheduling set up and notifying employees.
- Coordinates the health insurance coverage of part time employees according to the regulations of the Affordable Care Act. This includes auditing employment reports to identify eligible employees based on hours worked; notifying the individuals of their eligibility and provide information regarding their options; meeting with these individuals as needed to complete the enrollment process; review employment reports to determine continued eligibility of these employees.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Experience
- Over one year of relevant work experience.
- Excellent computer (MS Office);
- Candidate must be able to learn Banner HR and other benefits systems;
- Knowledge of principles, practices and standards of human resource administration;
- Must have ability to effectively communicate with others.
Preferred Qualifications
Education
Experience
3-4 years experience working as a benefits administrator with the West Virginia state benefits system.
