Position Summary

The HR Business Partner provides thought partnership and support to stakeholders in matters including but not limited to: employee relations, performance management, talent management, coaching, training and development, compensation and benefits administration, and HR compliance. The HR Partner is instrumental in executing the Company’s people initiatives and programs, providing great internal customer support, as well as driving HR functional excellence and process improvement. This role serves as an important member of the Site leadership team(s) and is actively engaged as a member of the HEM (Huber Engineered Materials) HR team. This position will be responsible for supporting 4 sites: Quincy Performance Minerals, Quincy Nutrition, Marblehead, IL, and Bauxite, AR.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Human resource management, developing and interpretation of policies, procedures and programs related to employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, and employee & labor relations.
  • Lead the effort for definition and improvement of company culture.
  • Effectively investigate employee relations issues. Analyze information from various sources and examine potential risks, to draw conclusions/solutions and ensure actions are legally compliant and in accordance with company values.
  • Advise Management on HR issues including employee relations, performance management and employee development and training.
  • Partners with employees and managers to effectively manage conflict to a successful resolution.
  • Investigate grievances or employee concerns and recommend remedies to Front Line Leaders and Managers. Ensure compliance with employment and labor laws.
  • Advise employees in various human resources matters including interpersonal issues, training, and career development. Promote and maintain open-door policy.
  • Review disciplinary issues with management to identify and recommend best progressive discipline options, up to and including termination.
  • Lead local recruitment efforts including facilitating the job requisition process, sourcing, screening and interviewing candidates, making hiring recommendations and developing job offers. Partner with the HEM Talent Acquisition team as appropriate. Provide relocation and immigration support as needed.
  • Focuses on long-term staffing needs and succession planning, partnering with leadership to build a talent pipeline for key positions.
  • Assesses current workforce skill levels and organizational goals that will require upgrading employee skills to support the Company’s future goals, identifying opportunities for cross training.
  • Coordinate effective onboarding for new hires.
  • Manage employee commitment and engagement activities and programs; identifying opportunities to foster desired culture through employee programs and effective communication.
  • Conduct internal HR audits to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
  • Position is involved in the analysis, design, and documentation of business processes.
  • Perform job evaluations slotting positions in accordance with organization’s salary structure.
  • Conduct compensation comparisons for internal and market equity to make salary recommendations for new hires, reorganizations, equity adjustments, and promotions. Consult with compensation partners as appropriate.
  • Administration of compensation programs including but not limited to merit increase process and various incentive plans.
  • Manage information dissemination/communication.
  • Support employee benefit issues and partner with HR Operations and benefits department to resolve escalated benefit issues.
  • Advise employees of retirement program and prepare information/communications regarding benefit costs, benefit eligibility, etc. with support from HR Operations and Benefits partners as appropriate.

Specialized/Technical Knowledge or Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or related field
  • 7+ years of Human Resources experience
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed
  • Must have thorough and in-depth knowledge of HR laws, benefit administration, compensation systems and various personnel functions.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Must regularly exercise independent judgment and decision making.
  • Experience with leave management, compensation and benefits.
  • Working exposure to multi-site, multi-state, or global operations a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of HRIS systems (Success Factors and Ultipro preferred) and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must demonstrate a proper sense of urgency, decisiveness, integrity, and ability to make appropriate decisions.
  • Must have the ability to interact and work effectively with all level of the organization, including executive management.
  • SPHR/PHR Preferred
