Help us create a better future, quicker
Joining our HR team at Scottish Power, you will provide HR advice and guidance on complex case issues to line managers across all Scottish Power UK Business Units.
This role will have particular emphasis on providing line management with support in relation to people relations and case management issues, including but not limited to employment law considerations, policy interpretation and assessment/management of risk.

What you’ll be doing
Daily you will manage a portfolio of complex sensitive and potential dismissal cases, support, and coach line managers from across all of the Scottish Power UK Business Units in the implementation of, compliance with and interpretation of all HR policies, specifically in relation to people relations and case management, such as disciplinary, managing attendance, managing performance, grievance, and sickness absence. Part of your role will be supporting preparation for employment tribunals and we will also look for you to provide support during consultation processes, e.g., change of location TUPE, redundancy etc.

We will look for you to build professional relationships and maintain our recognised levels of excellent customer service. Having the ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the circumstances to assess potential risks, understand the root cause and identify the necessary steps to take to mitigate these for the business. Utilising a sound knowledge of general employment law and HR best practice, you can influence effectively to ensure that the correct action is taken by line managers. You will identify where specialist HR Input is required, seeking assistance, or referring queries to other HR contacts (e.g., legal, Pensions, Reward etc.) where appropriate.

What you’ll bring
Along with extensive experience in HR case management you will hold a firm understanding of employment legislation and a detailed knowledge of the legislative framework which underpins HR Policy and practice as it relates to case management, specifically the ACAS Code of Practice and the Equality Act.

Bringing previous experience of working in a HR advisory capacity on case management issues, and ideally CIPD qualified (or working towards CIPD qualification). With strong Influencing skills, and the ability to positively influence line managers' actions to ensure a best practice approach is applied to case management and policy interpretation you can really support all business areas through the case management process, with the ability to take ownership of issues and ensure their effective resolution.

As an HR professional, you can communicate clearly and logically to ensure managers have a full understanding of the legal framework within which case management operates and the potential risks of available courses of action and have an appreciation of the sensitivity/urgency of issues with the ability to respond accordingly by appropriately prioritising work.
You have working knowledge of case law, employment law, and of current HR best practice so this will be embedded in your delivery. It would also be great if you have working knowledge of HR IT systems.

What’s in it for you
As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits. With our pension scheme, we’ll double match your contribution up to a company contribution of 10%.
