The team/department
We’re currently recruiting for HR Business Partners to join us during a truly unique period for financial services regulation. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting the FCA’s long term strategy and organisational transformation. The role will suit someone with significant experience of operating at a strategic level with strong stakeholder management skills. This is a truly exciting opportunity to help shape HR strategy and play a critical role in driving the organisation forward.

The Human Resources (HR) division is made up of a number of expert teams whose role it is to help the FCA achieve its people vision. We enable and support management in everything people-related throughout a person’s time at the FCA. From attracting talented individuals, welcoming them to the organisation through our induction, helping them grow and develop, listening to their views through our surveys, rewarding and recognising great performance and helping to build an inclusive culture.
We also support senior management when they are making FCA-wide decisions to ensure the full range of people matters are front and centre when making these complex decisions.
What you will be doing (the role)
  • Be an integral part of directorate senior leadership teams, driving the delivery of FCA people priorities, ensuring strategic alignment between organisational strategy and local people challenges.
  • Build long-term strategic relationships with senior stakeholders, contributing to key business objectives and building people management and leadership capability.
  • Use data and insight to inform decision-making; identify key trends and develop evidence-based interventions.
  • Work closely with line management and Finance Business Partners to deliver the annual business planning cycle and associated people activity, including leading workforce planning and change management.
  • Work closely with HR centres of excellence to provide subject matter expertise on a range of people management issues and HR services.
  • Support continuous improvement of the whole HR service offer, providing business intelligence and insight.
  • Champion and facilitate the FCAs approach to talent management and succession planning.
  • Provide input into the controls and mechanisms which support the organisational design and operation of the organisation.
The skills and experience you will have
Minimum

  • Experience in a generalist HR partnering role, with a particular focus on organisational change and talent management.
  • Experience of applying basic principles of pay and reward and understanding their impact on performance
  • Experience of interpreting and applying employment law and HR Policy to business scenarios in a commercial manner.
Essential
  • Strong appetite for quantitative and qualitative organisational data
  • Deep understanding of core business strategy
  • Ability to solve complex problems using deep conceptual and practical knowledge across a range of related HR disciplines
  • Excellent relationship and stakeholder management skills, at all levels of the organisation.
  • Bring best practice perspectives, critical thinking and thought leadership
  • Able to challenge and influence decisions at all levels with an assertive and confident approach to managing conflict and gaining credibility quickly
  • Ability to develop internal and external networks and use these to support delivery
Desirable
  • Experience of translating strategy into delivery, evaluating its success and using this to influence and shape future interventions.
  • Experience of working in a large, complex organisation (ideally with a matrix structure) and influencing (at all levels) to ensure business needs and the overarching business strategy and objectives are seamlessly linked
  • Degree and/or relevant professional qualification in HR

  • The salary range in London is up to £64,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
  • The salary range in Edinburgh & Leeds is up to £60,000 per annum plus a competitive benefits package, including a non-contributory pension
