Volvo Truck and Bus Centre North & Scotland, part of Volvo Group UK, are the wholly owned distributor for Volvo Trucks and Buses in Scotland and Northern England. With 11 locations and approx. 315 employees the company is one of the highest performing in the Volvo Trucks network and we have clear ambitions on strengthening that position. We are looking for an experienced HR Business Partner who, in addition to providing HR expertise can contribute and collaborate with the regions senior management team to support our transformation journey on people, products and services.
ABOUT THE JOB
In this full-time role, you will provide a first class, delivery focused HR service to support the business deliver on its ambitions around people, performance and sustainability.
As part of the UK HR team, but based and working from our regional head office in Glasgow, the role has a broad scope and remit encompassing all facets of the HR function including; employee engagement, relations and wellbeing, resource planning, recruitment, talent management, performance management, change management and leadership development. With a highly professional and business partner approach you will work directly with the regional directors and management teams to understand and proactively meet the business challenges.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute towards the design and delivery of the HR regional plan, aligning HR with the regional business and the wider organisation's objectives
- Support senior leaders with leadership sourcing, talent development, succession planning, performance management, competence development and compensation and benefits.
- Support organisational change initiatives to ensure they are planned and implemented in a way that applies best practice, complies with legislation, realises intended benefits and minimises unnecessary ER activity, cost and disruption
- Coach / mentor managers to support them on HR policy, process and operational matters and to develop their competence
- Lead and support leadership development programmes and initiatives to develop and upskill the management pipeline
- Develop and deliver people management sessions to inform and develop line managers across the business
- Facilitate and support local employee engagement forums to continuously improve employee engagement and experience
- Identify and support the creation of new talent pools to broaden the recruitment channels for all roles
- Promote employee wellbeing initiatives across the region
- Prepare monthly management updates on key HR topics and activities
- Providing consistent and accurate HR guidance, support and expertise to managers and employees in line with policy, practice and legislation
- Utilising experience in employee relations to ensure HR matters are handled promptly, fairly, and consistently in line with legal and company requirement
- Taking a proactive approach to identify employee related issues such as performance, conduct and absence providing timely and pragmatic interventions
- Analyse data and provide reporting to highlight trends / issues and to inform and support business decision on areas such as; headcount, turnover, absence etc
- Work closely with the Volvo HR network, and build relationships at all levels within the organisation
- Any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your manager.

EDUCATION &EXPERIENCE
- CIPD qualified
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven track record as a strategic HR Business Partner within an operational setting (Blue & White collar)
- Additional HR education/training preferred
