Job description
FM Conway are currently searching for a Highways Engineer Apprentice to join our Consultancy Services division based at our Beddington Lane depot. This is a full time, permanent role, offering full training and a clear career pathway. As part of your role you will complete a Level 4 or Level 6 Apprenticeship, working towards a Civil Engineering degree.

The Highways Engineer Apprentice Role
As our Highways Apprentice you will assist with the delivery of highways design schemes across our TFL contract. Working alongside other team members you will produce design packages, receive training on specialist software, attend site visits and work on the production of design outputs. Other responsibilities include:
- Learning how to use AutoCAD, to draw-up sketches provided by senior team members
- Learning how to use the highway design guidelines
- Writing draft sections for inspection reports
- Attending site visits with senior team members to gather information to inform design
- Progressing to being able to undertake design tasks with minimal supervision
- Attending meetings with internal and external project stakeholders
- Learning how to use and understand project programmes
- Meeting regularly with your manager, the Emerging Talent Manager and apprenticeship training provider to review your individual learning plan and targets
What we’re looking for in our Highways Engineer Apprentice
We are looking for candidates with A-Level’s ideally within maths, science, or technology-based subjects. You will have an interest in design and construction, alongside strong communication skills and the enthusiasm to learn and develop.
